Breast Feeding

Because Breast Feeding needn’t suck! Madnmi Nursing Necklaces makes feeding fun.

boobybabyWhilst feeding a little one, it can often be difficult to occupy your child’s hands. Little hands tend to wander, explore, nip, hair pull, scratch and generally distract babies from feeding. The idea behind the ‘Nursing Necklace’ is for the Mother to wear this item to help occupy their little ones with a visual and tactile item which can be touched, pulled and handled without the added worry that the item may be dropped and cause further distraction.

By wearing this necklace, parents are therefore providing a stimulus for children during feeding and in turn encouraging feeding.

imageThe ‘Nursing Necklace’ is 100% safe for little fingers, it will NOT break, thus this can also be used later on in your child’s life for jewellery or dress up! Although, this item is only safe to be used by your child independently once they are over three years of age (due to the small parts creating a potential choking hazard).

Nursing Necklaces are available in a wide range of colours, beads and styles suitable for either gender or even to match a specific outfit that Mum might happen to be wearing! ‘Nursing Necklaces’ save precious necklaces from the intense grip of your little ones. The vibrant colours, differing shapes, alternating textures and simple sounds (such as bells) included within these necklaces provide children with stimulation. The necklace itself can also act as a cue for feeding time to begin.

Safety tested to BS EN 71-3 1995 & BS5665 PART 3 1995, these necklaces have a full safety certificate. Tested for strength up to 200lbs, the ‘Nursing Necklace’ is fitted with a plastic safety breakaway clasp and is made from non toxic beads. This item can be sterilised and easily washed.

The ‘Nursing Necklace’ is available from www.madnmi.co.uk for £9.95 including free postage and packaging. Each necklace is handmade and completely unique in design, each necklace comes with with a pre-sterilised and ready to use sealed packaging complete with instructions and care guide.

Sweet Dreams: Dream Feeding

IMG_1767

Many babies find it difficult to sleep ‘right through’ the night, it can takes weeks, months or even over a year to establish a set sleeping pattern for your baby.

In order to increase your chances of a good nights sleep why not try ‘dream feeding’.

What is Dream Feeding?

Dream feeding is a technique of feeding and winding baby during their sleep.

How do I do a Dream feed?

Carefully put your baby into your arms while they sleep trying not to wake them. If you bottle feed prepare a warm bottle beforehand (test temperature to ensure you do not scold your baby!). Offer your baby the breast/ bottle as they sleep. If baby does not open their mouth gently stroke their chin and encourage them to ‘open up’.

Your baby may wake ever so slightly, However if they were in a deep enough sleep they will continue to suckle whilst snoozing! If your baby stops suckling try pulling the teet/ breast away from their mouth slowly, they should respond by sucking if they wish to continue with the feed.

It is essential that you wind your baby after any feed to relieve wind/ colic and to reduce the chance of choking upon milk. To wind a baby after a dream feed simply rub their backs and rock them side to side and forwards to back gently.

If you wish to change your baby before/ after feeding this is also possible but it is advised that you use a darkened room and make gentle movements when removing their nappy in order to avoid waking baby.

How is Dream feeding effective?

Babies sleep better when they have a full tummy and are less likely to wake to ask for food. Dream Feeding illuminates the need for baby to wake for food and encourages a longer sleep pattern.

Sleep Well!
