Clear the air in your little ones room with the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour.
Has your little one got a blocked nose which is causing restless nights? Whether it be down to the common cold or summer allergies, being nasally congested is uncomfortable and can be extremely stressful for young children with narrow nasal passages. As babies rely solely upon nasal breathing (except whilst crying when they breath through their mouths) it is important to try and ensure that your little one is able to breath comfortably in order to carry out feeding and for comfortable sleeping.
Having a little one who is unable to feed and sleep properly due to nasal congestion can throw routines out of sync and cause sleepless nights for the whole household. There are several things which parents can do in order to relieve nasal congestion throughout the night:
- Soak a muslin cloth/ towel/ washcloth in cool water and add several drops of Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour to the damp material. Hang this over a radiator so that the water can evaporate throughout the night releasing moisture into the air and decongesting oils into the air.
- Fill a bowl with warm water, add drops of Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour to the bowl filled with water. Allow this to evaporate into the air, humidifying the atmosphere throughout the night for easy breathing.
- Drop a few drops of Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour onto the underside of your little ones mattress.
- Spend ‘over the odds’ on a humidifier, vaporiser or ‘eucalyptus plugin’ to aid breathing throughout the night (these techniques often tend to be a waste of money in the long run).
The Baby Nose-Clear Room Vapour won the prestigious Queens Award for Outstanding Innovation for its effectiveness. Designed to reduce congestion and to improve breathing, The Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour is made with pure and natural essential oils. It is 100% pure and does not contain any toxic, synthetic fragrances or propellants unlike many other commercial decongestants available on the market. The Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour uses a gentle blend of lemon, pine and tea tree essential oils in order to create a natural decongestant which has antiseptic, antibacterial and calming properties.
The Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour can be used to clear little noses from birth onwards either within babies room (using the above listed techniques) or within the Baby’s Nose-Clear Inhaler Dummy (for three months and over).
Mums Baby Magazine put the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour into use during a hot, summers night in order to reduce congestion for a two year old hay fever sufferer.
Firstly, we suggest that only a few drops of the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour are required as the oil is extremely concentrated. Secondly, we would like to advise that you wash your hands thoroughly after setting up your humidifying arrangement with this oil, try to avoid contact with the skin when using this oil.
After a few hours of allowing the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour to air, we found that the room smelt extremely fresh and breathing was far easier for both children and parents alike. Although our toddler was still rather ‘blocked up’ throughout the night the decongesting oil in the air seemed to have some effect in aiding his breathing and therefore enabled a peaceful nights sleep for all!
Mums Baby Magazine give the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour 8/10. In order to reduce your little ones symptoms even more so, we would like to suggest that the Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour be used in conjunction with the Baby-Nose Clear Aspirator and Baby-Nose Clear Massage Oil.
The Baby-Nose Clear Room Vapour is available for £7.14 from www.4little1.com
Building a better bath time bond with the My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel.
Bath time with little ones provides magical moments for both parents and children. Bath time is the ideal opportunity for bonding to take place between parent and child.
Many first time parents find bath time a nerve wracking experience as they try to support their new-born’s head and body whilst washing them with the other hand.
In order to make things a little easier for you and your little one why not try getting in the tub with them and resting them in your legs or against your chest so that you are more able to support their head and body, whilst washing them and at the same time offering your little one skin to skin contact. Alternatively bath supports are available which can be put into the bath for your little one to rest upon whilst you wash them.
Try to include both parents (if possible) in the bath time routine, many hands make light work! Try to relax and enjoy bath times with your little one, children pick up on your feelings very easily and if they sense that you are tense then they will mirror this. In order to lighten the mood, include wash cloth puppets or small bath toys to keep your little one entertained whilst in the water.
Water temperature needs to be at 37 degrees Celsius, in order to check temperature it is suggested that the parent dips their elbow into the water. Bath thermometers are widely available and are a more accurate way in which to assure that the water is of the correct temperature. Never leave the water running when your little one is in the bath as you could risk scalding your infant.
For new-borns and babies (up to six months of age) you need to fill the bath with approximately 13cm (5”) of water or alternatively ensure that there is enough water to allow your little one to be in the water with their shoulders covered.
Once your little one has finished being washed and is removed from the bath then they need to be kept warm as their body temperature will drop quickly once out of the water. Try to ensure that the room is warm and that you have a towel and the equipment that you will need (clothes, a nappy, a towel and any other lotions or talc’s) at ready to hand.
My Munchkin Baby Apron Towels provide the ideal solution for drying young children. The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is an award winning towel which features a hooded corner in which you can place your little ones head to keep them warm and dry hair easily. The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel also features a Velcro tab which can be securely fastened around the back of the parents neck, securing the towel in place enabling parents to dry little ones easily whilst providing them warmth and comfort.
The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is shaped as a butterfly to aid simple wrapping of your baby after they have had a bath. The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is made with 100% pure organic cotton and is designed to offer parents to be ‘hands free’ during bath time.
The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is available in three colours (sky blue, candy pink or luxury white) and comes in a beautiful, drawstring bag for storage.
Mums Baby Magazine put the My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel to the test during ‘splash time’. We really liked the drawstring bag which also provides enough space to fit in a small comb, a nappy and a set of pyjamas so that parents can easily carry equipment to and from the bathroom. The towel itself is wonderfully soft and being organic cotton is ideal for sensitive, soft skin. The design of the towel is ideal for providing comfortable and secure cuddles after bath time, enabling the parent to get on with the job of getting their little ones dry without worrying that the towel will move around especially if their little ones are fidgety.
Mums Baby Magazine found that the My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is the ideal towel to take along to baby massage sessions as parents are able to maintain contact with their child without having to adjust the towels position. Although The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is suitable from birth to eighteen
months, we found that the towel itself was a little larger than the average baby towel providing even more comfort. Mums Baby Magazine give the My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel 9/10, this towel really does offer a ‘better bath time’ experience for both parents and children.
The My Munchkin Baby Apron Towel is available from www.mymunchkin.co.uk for £24.99.
Skincare for Sensitive Souls: Halos N Horns
Halo’s N Horns stock a wide range of bath products which are designed specifically for use with infants and toddlers. Mums Baby Magazine put two products from the Halo’s N Horns range to the test.
Firstly we used the ‘Gentle Bath & Body Wash’ over the period of a week with a toddler. The packaging is colourful and interesting to the eye for little ones when in the bath, the product itself is sweet smelling and lathers up nicely when washing little ones. However, it is noticeable that it isn’t as bubbly as many other products available as Halos N Horns do not use SLS (a foaming agent which can be an irritant to skin).
In order to achieve the sweet fragrance of this product Halos N Horns use a range of natural conditioners and plant-derived cleansing products ensuring that the product is mild. The Bath and Body Wash is hypoallergenic and non-drying thus gentle upon skin.
and is actually multipurpose as it can be used as an all-over hair and body wash and also a Bubble Bath formula. Mums Baby Magazine give the Halos N Horns Gentle Bath & Body Wash 8/10 as we deem it to be the ideal multiuse product for bath time with a baby.
Mums Baby Magazine also put the Halos N Horns ‘Moisturising Body Lotion’ to the test with a toddler and a parent who has extreme eczema over the period of a week through ‘baby massage techniques’. The lotion doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy and is made with natural ingredients such as Vitamin E and Sunflower Oil to leave your babies skin feeling soft. Once again, the Moisturising Lotion is designed to be as mild as possible to the skin and avoids use of harsh ingredients which may irritate the skin.
However, after several days of use (using once a day during a baby massage session) the parent who suffered from eczema found that their hands became irritated and sore. Therefore we would suggest not to use this product with a child with extremely sensitive skin. The child showed no signs of irritation
and seemed deeply relaxed during the massage session, the fragrance of this product is soothing and sweet thus ideal for applying after an evening bath to wind down ready for sleep. Mums Baby Magazine give the Moisturising Lotion 5/10.
Halos N Horns have taken advice from paediatric skin care experts who also agree that realistically parents should only use water to wash and bathe their baby for the first four weeks of life. Thus, it is advised not to use any products until your child is over one month old.
Halos N Horns products are available in a wide range of supermarkets and are currently exclusively available in Boots stores.

Did you know?…. Baby Massage Top Tips

For Mums who practice massaging their babies, it is worth knowing that Baby Oil is not the best thing to use on your baby. Baby Oil does not soak into the skin and simply makes your baby greasy!
MBMs top tip is that OLIVE OIL or Grape seed Oil is far better for your baby and far cheaper too!
