Teethers

Teething Treasures from Gumigem

imageGirls need a bit of ‘glam’ and there is no reason why that should stop when you become a Mum. Whilst we all know that babies are like little magpies for jewellery, there is a way to wear jewellery safely whilst in the presence of children.

Babies seem to enjoy pulling, tugging and chewing upon anything within their reach. Thus you don’t see many Mums wearing dangly earrings or long necklaces… However, Gumigem have produced a wide range of jewellery specifically designed to be ‘safe’ for both Mum and Baby. Gumigem’s glitzy and glamorous jewellery is made from non-toxic, soft, flexible silicone (like most baby teething toys) and is therefore ideal for Mum to wear and for baby to chew upon.

As previously mentioned babies enjoy pulling and tugging, whilst babies may be very small in size their grip is extremely strong. Gumigem’s jewellery range features a ‘break-away’ clip which will open when tugged strongly (thus preventing the jewellery becoming a choking hazard for Mums with babies who enjoy pulling and tugging). Once the clasp is open it is possible to adjust the length of the necklace as the cord can be cut and re knotted to suit the required length.

Gumigem’s jewellery range can be sterilised in either a dish washer or steriliser (so long as the cord is removed). The Gumigem necklace range is ideal for occupying little hands and pacifying teething tots.

imageMums Baby Magazine put the new ‘Gumigem’ Raindrop range to the test. We were really taken with the textured, glitter effect and were surprised by how unlike silicone/ rubber the necklace appears to be. Unless physically handled it is almost impossible to tell from its visual appearance that the pendant is silicone/ rubber based.

Gumigem sell a wide range of jewellery differing in design, shape and colour. Gumigem jewellery is fairly priced, retailing at £12.50 per necklace or alternatively customers can purchase a range of colours and designs to accompany alternative outfits from £22.50 upwards.

10Mums Baby Magazine give the All New ‘Gumigem’ Jewellery range ten out of ten for Mum and Baby!  We would like to make it clear that Gumigem jewellery should be worn by parents and children should never be left unattended with the jewellery for safety reasons.

Decembers Top Tester Lisa Beedham tells us about Alfie’s Amber Teething Necklace.

imageLisa (27) from Blackpool is Mum to Alfie (17 months). Alfie has previously struggled with teething troubles, after being advised by a friend to try using an Amber Teething Necklace Lisa decided to give it a go and ordered one online from http://www.amber-teething-necklaces.co.uk for £13.99

Amber is said to have healing properties, Amber Teething Necklaces are a traditional European remedy used to reduce teething pain. Amber has been used for centuries in Europe with successful results. Suitable for babies six weeks upwards, Amber teething necklaces are widely available online from a range of retailors.

Amber teething necklaces do nimageot come particularly cheap. However, Lisa explains that it was literally her last resort as nothing else seemed to help Alfie. Lisa says that she had already tried Baby Paracetamol, Teething Rings, Teething Powders, Teething Gels and none of these made any difference to Alfie’s pain.

Alfie has been wearing his Amber Teething Necklace for almost two months now, Alfie has recently had two large teeth appear at the top of his mouth and one tooth at the bottom. None of these teeth arriving seems to have bothered Alfie since wearing the Amber Teething Necklace. It seems the Amber does indeed have ‘healing powers!’.

imageEach bead upon the necklace is attached so that even if one bead breaks off it will not fall apart, only the bead which breaks would come off, therefore reducing worries upon children breaking the necklace and detaching the beads.

Lisa is unable to identify a single negative aspect to this product other than the high price. However, in comparison with the price of a child’s comfort and happiness it is ‘well worth paying’.

Teething Problems? Try to instil a little fun into teething with the Tommee Tippee Puzzle Teether

Teething can be an emotionally draining time for both baby and parent. Babies naturally crave something to suck and gnaw at to help reduce sore gums from the pain of teeth coming through. Most teethers are a solid shape and babies tend to flick them in and out of their mouth as they enjoy touching and grasping items. This can upset the baby as it seems that the teether is suddenly removed from their mouths.

The Tommee Tippee Puzzle Teether is a flexible twisting toy with a variety of textures which babies are able to have in their mouths whilst moving the teether around in their hands.

The teether is multicoloured and contains beads for children to shake and create sound or simply watch the movement of. The teether also has four rings which are able to move freely around the twisting puzzle teether for babies to pull, grasp and touch.

Available for £4.88 from www.childsplaysussex.co.uk the Tommee Tippee Puzzle Teether is a fantastic learning aid for young babies with the multiple colours, textures and moving shapes.

Parenting can be a learning curve, Make teething easier with the Learning Curve Teething Blanket.

The Learning Curve Teething Blanket is available from retailing at $6.97 (which converts to £4.23 GBP).

The teething blanket itself is made from soft Terry towelling cloth and also includes a wide range of textures for children to explore such as crinkly satin and chewy soft materials. The teeth also has a squeaky point to entertain your little one!

The teething blanket is lightweight and fits easily into your pram bag. It even has an attach-a-loop to aid portability.

Why not cheer up the misery that can often be teething by getting hold of one of these for your little one and brightening their day.

Thanks to Rollerjen for putting forward this recommendation!
