Make Mothers Day
Mothers Day falls upon Sunday April 3rd this year. Why not make something with your little one to make Mothers feel all the more special and loved. To be given something which is handmade shows just how much little ones really care through the extra effort and work that they have put in to create something just for their Mum.
Hand made creations also save money with many of our budgets being tight due in the current economic climate. Other than cards which can be made easily, here are some ideas for ‘hand made gifts’ this Mothers Day.
* Salt dough models/ ornaments (paint and decorate)
* Jars filled with sweets
* Fairy Cakes
* A picture (this could be framed)
* A painting (this could be framed)
* Decorate a simple photo frame
* A pen pot
* A calendar (this can be done using most desktop publishing programs)
* A simple beaded bracelet (using elastic and beads which can be purchased cheaply from most markets)
Making Advent Traditional
Rather than spending money on an Advent calendar made from cardboard and plastic for your little one this year, why not invest in a calendar which be reused annually and refilled with goodies of your choice! Wooden Advent Calendars seem to be all the rage in Christmas Catalogues this day and are fairly easy to get hold of.
Not only are you helping the environment in the long run by ridding of cardboard and plastic calendars which will only end up in the recycling but you can bring back some of the Magic which
Christmas brings by using a wooden calendar… Why not put a clue in the drawer each day so that your child has to do a mini treasure hunt in order to gain their ‘advent gift’?
To make the advent calendar even more magical why not tell your little ones that each night a ‘Christmas Elf’ visits to fill the correct draw with a chocolate or gift? Only the correct days drawer should be filled!
There are a wide range of wooden advent calendars available on the market, alternatively there are also fabric calendars which if you were crafty then perhaps you could create your own!
Dont forget the Dads!
Fathers Day falls upon Sunday 20th June this year, Fathers Day is a key date for the Diary which should be celebrated and recognised. Daddy’s after all are just as important as us Mums!
If your child is old enough to make an informed choice upon gifts then try to ensure that you offer them an opportunity to fuss over their Fathers and to get them something nice to celebrate ‘Daddy’s Day’.
If your little one isn’t yet at an age where they are able to choose something themselves then why not make it a little more personal by using a photograph of your little one to create something special.
Perhaps you could arrange a ‘Daddy’s Day’ celebration such as a trip out or even a pampering afternoon for the fellas!
