Mamas and Papas Starlite Swing

The Mamas and Papas Starlite swing features a range of Music, a jack to insert your own MP3 player into as well as a storage box for your MP3 player/ IPOD, five differing swing speeds, a starlit canopy (using LED multicoloured lights) and a soft handle bar with three detachable toys for baby to play with. The swing can be put into a stationary position using a pull out clip from underneath the swing itself and for safety a five point, adjustable harness is fitted into the seat. All covers are machine washable and the swing itself is easy to wipe down.
Babies are said to love lights as they are bright and attract their attention, the LED lights (stars) can be set to act like a shooting star shower or twinkling stars. We have found this to be the perfect swing for Josh, although it can be slightly difficult to get him into as having to bend down with the weight of baby and angle the baby correctly to get him into the swing without catching his head on the star lit canopy can be awkward. However, the canopy is detachable although I would hate to reattach it and drop the canopy onto baby whilst they were in the swing. Thus why I tend not to leave the canopy in tact whilst putting baby into the swing itself.
One other useful feature of this swing is the timer function, which can be set to swing to rock for five, ten or fifteen minute periods which is perfect for getting the jobs done quickly whilst baby continues to rock for a set amount of time. The Music can be adjusted in volume as it can become repetitive after time, although our baby seems to love it!
This swing is perfect for newborns up to around six months, although I think it may become cramped after around four months for baby. The swing can be folded away easily and features three different seat heights according to the age and needs of the baby.
The Star lite swing retails at around £99.00 from
. However, if you wish to buy the neutral coloured version (which is sold at £89.99 on the
website) you can grab a bargain by getting down to your local
where you will find this swing at £39.99! You may need to be patient as it is often out of stock due to the popularity and the bargain price. Otherwise you could try your luck on
(where we grabbed a deal and got the swing for £30 including postage and packaging!).
A beautiful, black baby beanie!
Having used a swing for the first eight weeks of our sons life as a seat for him to sit in when he was awake and ready to play, we as parents became fed up with having to wrestle with the swing itself to move it across the room. It is a beautiful swing and one of Josh’s favourite toys. However, we realised we needed a stationary baby seat and thus purchased a Bumbo seat.
The Bumbo seat is perfect for when he is four months plus but currently he is lacking the neck muscles required to hold himself steady for sustained periods of time, therefore the Bumbo seat is currently stored upstairs for when our little boy is a little older. This left us lacking in a seat once again until I ventured onto the
website and found the ‘Ultimate Beanie’ at only £34.99 (down from £49.99!).
Josh loves sitting in his beanie: it is lightweight, pleasing to the eye with neutral colours for adult rooms, easy to lift baby into and out of and finally inexpensive compared with the leather beanbag chairs which were featured in a range of catalogues.
